Can I Copy PC Games with DVD Copy Software?

January 5th, 2012 by admin

Most PC games are released with at least some form of copy protection coded into the programming of the disc. This is to ensure that the only one who has access to the disc is its lawful owner, to prevent copyright infringement and to help curb the unlawful distribution of video games. For purposes of backing up games (or DVDs, for that matter) that you already own, such applications are a considerable hindrance.

Since you’re not planning to simply distribute a whole slew of copies to your friends, creating backups of your favorite games isn’t a big deal. Check your copy software to see if it has decryption capabilities; software with this feature is specially designed to get around copyright protection and allow you to copy games and movies alike at your leisure.

Besides DVD copying software, there are also a number of applications available that are specially designed to copy video games of all kinds. While these products can be expensive, they represent an investment rather than a loss of money. After all, using a $30 application to back up a $60 game is hardly a waste of money or time.
